Glossary: HD-DVD

Short for High Definition DVD. One of the two developed replacements for standard definition DVD, utilising new technology to increase disc capacity to 15GB for single layer and 30GB for dual layer storage.

HD-DVD players will be backwards compatible with standard DVD's which means that a HD-DVD player will also play current DVD's.
