The Extron SW2 HD 8K is a two-input HDMI switcher with analogue audio de-embedding. It supports resolutions up to 8K/60 with data rates up to 48 Gbps, including 5K for Microsoft® Teams Front Row, Dynamic HDR, Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, and HD lossless audio formats. In addition to the HDMI output, an analogue audio output enables extracted stereo HDMI signals to be sent to a sound system or other audio equipment. The HDCP 2.3-compliant switcher features Extron EDID Minder® Plus for continuous EDID communication and Key Minder® for quick, reliable switching of HDCP-encrypted content. Remote and local control options are provided, including RS-232, front panel, and auto-input switching. The SW2 HD 8K switcher is ideal for environments that require routing two HDMI sources to a single display.

To enhance and simplify integration, the SW2 HD 8K provides integrator-friendly features, including automatic input cable equalization, indicators for monitoring and troubleshooting, as well as peripheral device power on the output. Automatic input cable equalization corrects for signal loss due to lengthy input cables, ensuring signal integrity. Front panel LED indicators provide immediate visual confirmation of HDCP authentication and signal presence for each input and output. If HDCP‑encrypted content is transmitted to a non‑compliant display, a full-screen green signal provides immediate visual confirmation that protected content cannot be viewed on that display. The switcher also provides +5 VDC, 250 mA on the HDMI output for powering external peripheral devices, such as active HDMI cables for transmission of video and audio signals over longer cable runs.

Housed in 1″ (2.5 cm) high, quarter-rack width enclosure, the switcher allows for discreet mounting in a rack or under a table.

Freely downloadable EDID Manager 3.0 software is available for advanced EDID editing and creating custom EDID files.
EDID Minder® Plus automatically manages EDID communication between connected devices - EDID Minder Plus supports additional memory blocks for displays that convey advanced features via both EDID and DisplayID for proper management of the extended EDID information required to reliably display and distribute 5K and 21:9 aspect ratio content.
Key Minder® continuously verifies HDCP compliance for quick, reliable switching - Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices to ensure quick and reliable switching in professional AV environments, while enabling simultaneous distribution of a single source signal to one or more displays.
Automatic input cable equalisation - Actively conditions incoming HDMI signals to compensate for signal loss when using long cables, low-quality cables, or source devices with poor signal output.
Selectable output muting - Provides the capability to mute any combination of video and audio at any time. Both embedded audio and Analogue audio can be independently muted.
User-selectable HDCP authorisation - Allows individual inputs to appear HDCP compliant or non HDCP compliant to the connected source, which is beneficial if the source automatically encrypts all content when connected to an HDCP-compliant device. Protected material is not passed in non HDCP mode.
HDCP Visual Confirmation provides a green signal when encrypted content is sent to a non-compliant display - A full screen green signal is sent when HDCP encrypted content is transmitted to a non HDCP compliant display, providing immediate visual confirmation that protected content cannot be viewed on the display.
Front panel LED indicators for signal presence, HDCP status, and power - Provides visual indication of system status for real-time feedback and monitoring of key performance parameters.
