The Extron DTP3 CrossPoint 42 USB is a compact 4x2 matrix switcher that supports USB 10Gbps data at the local USB‑C® host port and four-port hub, plus host switching and USB 2 data extension. It incorporates the Extron-exclusive Vector™ 4K scaling engine capable of 4K/60 4:4:4 and features USB-C and HDMI inputs, HDMI outputs, plus a DTP3 output for extending video, embedded audio, USB data, power, and control signals up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a shielded CAT 6A cable. The DTP3 CrossPoint 42 is available for applications not requiring USB data. Both models provide advanced capabilities such as USB-C charging, audio de‑embedding, seamless transition effects, and logo keying. Loaded with these features and more, the DTP3 CrossPoint 42 USB and DTP3 CrossPoint 42 deliver fast and reliable AV switching in professional environments.

Vector 4K Scaling

Both DTP3 CrossPoint 42 models incorporate Extron Vector 4K scaling technology. Developed in‑house, and engineered to deliver best-in-class image upscaling and downscaling, the Vector 4K engine embodies a complete set of image processing algorithms that ensure uncompromising scaling performance with 30‑bit precision processing. This enables sharp, accurate scaling of standard definition and high definition signals up to 4K, as well as downscaling of 4K source signals for lower resolution displays without losing critical image detail.

For professional-quality transitions between sources, the scalers offer a range of switching effects. These include a freeze/fade transition that fades out a final frozen frame of the previous input source as the newly selected source fades in, a cut through black transition, and a fade through black transition. In addition, a custom graphic image, such as a company logo, can be inserted onto the video output. Supported logo file formats include PNG, BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF. Selectable FILL and FOLLOW modes are available to set the desired video aspect ratio. FILL mode provides full screen output, while FOLLOW mode preserves the original signal’s aspect ratio.

Comprehensive EDID Management

To ensure professional AV systems perform as designed, it is crucial that EDID communication between video sources and sink devices is managed properly. Correct management of EDID allows source equipment to send video and audio signals in formats and parameters that best match display device capabilities. Mishandling of EDID could result in suboptimal image quality, no image, and/or poor sound.

DTP3 CrossPoint 42 models feature a suite of Extron-exclusive tools and capabilities for complete control over EDID management. In addition to EDID captured from connected displays or uploaded by the user, EDID Minder® provides a library of EDID files that can be applied to any video input. EDID Minder is easily accessible in Extron PCS software. The newest version of EDID Manager is a freely downloadable Windows® utility for viewing and editing EDID files. This software enables video format optimization, chroma sampling and color bit depth manipulation, and adjustment to audio capabilities. Edited files may be saved, added to the library, and easily applied to devices within the system.

Integrated Digital Twisted Pair Extension

The DTP3 output sends AV and control signals up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a single shielded CAT 6A cable to a DTP3 or first-generation DTP receiver mounted at a projector, behind a display, or any other remote location. Bidirectional RS-232 signals can be inserted from a control system and transmitted together with the video and audio, enabling control of the display. For simplified installation, power can be sent to a DTP3 or first-generation DTP receiver over the same cable. The DTP3 output can also be configured for compatibility with HDBaseT™-enabled displays to send digital video and embedded audio, plus bidirectional control.

In addition to supporting DTP3 endpoints, DTP3 CrossPoint 42 models are compatible with XTP Systems®. This is ideal for facility-wide AV system applications with a centralized AV signal distribution infrastructure, as well as several presentation spaces with local AV switching and processing. They can connect into an XTP CrossPoint® matrix switcher in a central equipment rack or closet to receive shared AV resources, or to send a local presentation to one or more remote destinations.

DTP3 CrossPoint 42 USB - Built for Collaboration

The DTP3 CrossPoint 42 USB model adds extensive USB data capabilities to support UC collaboration environments. Up to three USB 10Gbps hosts may be switched to share devices connected to the local 4-port USB hub, which features two USB 10Gbps and two High-Speed connections. The switcher can also access remote USB devices connected to a DTP3 R 331 receiver. This enables cameras, microphones, mice, and keyboards installed in the room to be available to any connected USB host.

DTP3 CrossPoint 42 USB supports the full functionalities of USB-C connections, enabling transmission of video and audio via DisplayPort alt-mode, data up to USB 10Gbps, and 100 watt power delivery over a single cable.

BYOM Convenience

DTP3 CrossPoint 42 USB supports BYOM - Bring Your Own Meeting spaces where installed USB equipment such as cameras and microphones can be accessed by portable laptops brought by the users. It integrates USB switching with traditional AV switching and extension, enabling the room to seamlessly switch between multiple laptops or computer sources while also providing access to USB-connected equipment. BYOM spaces are more convenient for users, less expensive to set up and maintain, and offer more flexibility. They also serve a dual function and operate as traditional presentation spaces when users want to present content locally and don’t need to run a UC meeting. BYOM spaces feature powerful and effective local and remote collaboration capabilities for today’s meeting and collaboration rooms.
